As
an investigative journalist, Karen has written about major issues
impacting children and families. She has seen first-hand the victims
of sexual predators and sexual assault and reported on their stories.
She has also written about national child homicide investigations
including the JonBenet Ramsey Case.
Her
passion of sharing people's personal stories is what brought her
to journalism. Karen's work has appeared in many newspapers and
magazines including Vanity Fair, the Los Angeles Times,
San Diego Union Tribune, Redding Record Searchlight, apbnews.com
and more. She has also been a guest on MSNBC, syndicated
radio talk shows and cable programs.
As
a public relations specialist, her forte is crisis communications
and media relations. She honed those skills working as the Public
Information Officer for the Oceanside (CA) Police Department (1999
- 2004).
Karen
has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from San Diego State
University.
